Simple Things Difficult

There is this Warren Buffett quote that I enjoy (each time I read it). “There seems to be some perverse human characteristic that likes to make simple (the original word in the quote is easy) things difficult.”

To give an example, compounding is a very simple and powerful concept. It is the free gift given to all of us. But it’s super difficult to get compounding to work for us. In fact, it doesn’t work for most people.

Why?

Because we get in the way. We don’t let it work. We make this simple gift difficult.

What do you think?
