The Orthopaedic Surgeon

Amar Pandit , CFA , CFP

How many people go to an Orthopaedic surgeon to buy a Knee Joint?

How many go for a Hip Joint?

Not that I know any, and I am confident you wouldn’t either.

We go to an Orthopaedic surgeon for correction or prevention of deformities, disorders or injuries of our bones, joints, ligaments and so on. Thank You Webster for some technical words here.

We care less about which company’s products the surgeon is using. We go to the surgeon for her/his skills, experience in dealing with the problems that we are experiencing, empathy and solid diagnosis. The knee joint is part of the solution/services rendered during the complex surgery. The Real Product is the Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Likewise, you do not go to a Financial Professional to just buy mutual funds.

You go to her/him for counsel on your Financial Life.

You go so the professional can come between you and costly mistakes.

You go to get your most expensive questions answered.

You go for help with some or many of the 65+ financial transitions (examples – birth of a child, inheritance, retirement, divorce, moving out of the country to name a few transitions) you and your family are likely to experience.

You go to seek guidance for living the life you have imagined with your money.

And there are many more reasons.

The Product you are really looking for is not a Mutual Fund. The Real Financial Professional is the Product.

On that note, I wish you and your family a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi. Have a wonderful day and year ahead.
