We Need More of This

I recently read this in FS Blog, “If intelligence is getting what you want, wisdom is wanting what’s worth getting in the first place.”

Read that again.

Because this is not just a quote.

It is a lens to look at your entire financial life.

Most investors are intelligent.

They know how to earn.

They know how to save.

They know how to invest.

They know how to chase returns.

They think they know what they want.

But very few pause to ask.

“What do I really want?”

And that is where wisdom begins.

You can build a large portfolio.

But still feel anxious.

You can outperform benchmarks.

But still feel behind.

You can accumulate more.

But never feel enough.

Because intelligence optimizes.

Wisdom clarifies.

Intelligence says.

“How do I get higher returns?”

Wisdom asks.

“Why do I need higher returns?”

Intelligence says.

“How do I grow my wealth faster?”

Wisdom asks.

“What is this wealth meant to do for me?”

This is where most investors get trapped.

They become very good at playing the game.

But they never question the game itself.

What if you are chasing the wrong target?

What if you are solving for a number.

Instead of a life?

Because money is not the goal.

It is a tool.

To live the life, you have imagined.

Before you optimize your portfolio.

Pause.

Reflect.

Rethink.

Ask yourself.

What is worth wanting?

What kind of life do I truly want?

What does enough look like for me?

Because once that becomes clear.

Everything else simplifies.

You don’t need more intelligence.

You need more wisdom.

And that changes everything.
